Harvest Moon Set by Blackmageheart Harvest Moon Set by Blackmageheart
Part of a set of gifts made for :iconstarrley: as part of the Sprite Stitch Big Swap 2012 :D

A small diorama style set consisting of:
Base mat
24 crops (6 sets of 4, with stands)
Farmer dude
Chicken
Goosey/ducky thing (wasn't 100% sure what it was!)
Cow
3 Chicks
House (which is a storage box for the crops)

All cross stitched on plastic canvas, except for the stands, which are felt squares stitched on to plastic canvas. House is fully stitched on all sides except the bottom (that's where the box goes) and the figures are double sided - the farmer has a back and the animals have mirror images on the reverse. Also the figures are glued on to spray painted British coins! :D

30,600 stitches on various pieces of 14ct plastic canvas.

Oh, wow. I'm really enjoying this. I've never considered that cross-stitching could be used to have a 3D effect.

Sure! It's tricky sometimes to get the pieces together but is very much worth it!

This is incredibly unique and creative! A 3D cross stitch Harvest Moon set! The individual patterns for each of the pieces are great, the colour choices for each piece tie in very well together, and the overall feel captures the feel of the game. Well done! :)

Thank you very much! It was a lot of work considering I hadn't actually played the specific game before (Harvest Moon DS) but I did my best to capture images and work from there. :)

You usually only see little sweet cottage type things, but they aren't made in the same way (I had to research it thoroughly!)
A Pokemon one would be cool, and so easy to do!

This is absolutely epic!! <33 Harvest Moon is one of my favorite video game series! ^^!
And if you don't mind me asking, where did you find the patterns for these? I have been looking for some HM patterns for forever D:

Thanks! I made all of the patterns myself, using sprites from Harvest Moon games on the DS.
Would be happy to share!

Ohmyggodness! That's so impressive!! OO:
And oh my, yes, that's so sweet! :iconarticunolaplz: If you are okay with sharing I would absolutely love to be able to use them! :iconlovecuddleplz:

Also what was the process by which you made these? I tried looking at some of the sprites once, and zooming in really closely so I could basically transfer them over pixel by pixel, but oftentimes the sprites were so fuzzy that close that all the colors blending together and I couldn't differentiate the difference between pixels of subtly different colors D:

For the farmer, crops and animals, I used sprite sheets and imported the sprites I wanted into the stitching programs, checking all the colours using Photoshop. For the house, I got a screenshot from the game and cut out the shape of the building, modified its shape to work as a 3d object on the plastic (because it was weird shaped in the game!)then sort of exploded it into its separate parts and made patterns for each one. For the base, I examined floor tiles from the game and designed some repeating patterns based on those (pixel'd them out in Photoshop) - again made a pattern from that!
I hope that explains the process a bit!

And if anyone wants some patterns or anything, just note me!
